This dear young dog was lying utterly defeated, unable to close his mouth, in excruciating pain and confusion. His jaw was broken; a passing vehicle must have hit him in the face. He offered no resistance when your rescuer gently lifted him into the ambulance.
To eat again, he would need a surgical procedure in which his jaw would be re-wired. We were so delighted that it only took about a day after surgery to recover enough to eat on his own!
